DGFT Makes EO Extension Process Easier for Exporters

DGFT has introduced an automated facility for Export Obligation (EO) Extension in certain Advance Authorisation and EPCG Authorisation cases.

·        What was the earlier process?

Even after the PRC/EPCG Committee approved an EO Extension, the exporter had to file a separate application with the concerned DGFT Regional Authority.

This resulted in additional processing, document verification and waiting time.

·        What has changed?

Under the new automated system:

  1. The exporter submits the EO Extension request to the PRC/EPCG Committee.
  2. If the Committee approves the request, the system issues a letter for payment of the prescribed extension fee.
  3. The exporter pays the fee through the DGFT portal and submits the response.
  4. After successful payment, the system automatically creates and approves the EO Extension file.
  5. The EO Extension Letter is generated automatically.

The revised EO expiry date will also be updated in the concerned authorisation records and transmitted to ICEGATE.

·        Benefits for exporters

  1. No separate EO Extension application after Committee approval
  2.  Reduced manual processing by the Regional Authority
  3.  Faster generation of the EO Extension Letter
  4.  Less paperwork and repeated verification
  5.  Improved Ease of Doing Business

  • Simple takeaway

If your Advance Authorisation or EPCG EO Extension is approved by the PRC/EPCG Committee, you only need to pay the prescribed fee and submit your response through the DGFT portal. The remaining process will be completed automatically through the system.
