The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has extended the timeline for surrendering unutilised Raw Sugar TRQ quantity allocated for the import of 10 LMT (Lakh Metric Tonnes) of Raw Sugar.
The extension provides TRQ holders additional time to surrender any quantity that remains unutilised under the applicable Raw Sugar TRQ.
What Should Importers Do?
Importers holding Raw Sugar TRQ allocations should review their allocated and utilised quantities.
If any portion of the TRQ allocation remains unutilised, the holder should assess the applicable surrender process and complete the required action within the extended timeline.
The 0.5% CIF value charge should also be considered while calculating the cost of surrender.

Why Is This Update Important?
A TRQ (Tariff Rate Quota) allows imports of a specified quantity under the applicable tariff framework. Therefore, businesses holding a TRQ allocation need to carefully track their utilisation.
The extension up to 15 October 2026 provides additional time for holders to deal with unutilised Raw Sugar TRQ quantities according to the prescribed conditions.

Conclusion
The DGFT has extended the deadline for surrendering unutilised Raw Sugar TRQ under the 10 LMT allocation to 15 October 2026.
TRQ holders should review their Raw Sugar TRQ utilisation, identify any unutilised quantity, and take the required action within the revised deadline. A 0.5% charge on the CIF valueof the surrendered quantity will apply.
